The speciation of Nd (light REE) and Yb (heavy REE) sulfate complexes were determined via in situ Raman spectroscopy using fused SiO2 capillary cells up to 300 C at saturated water vapor pressure (0.1–8.6 MPa) and in a hydrothermal diamond anvil cell up to 500 C and 540 MPa.. The REE monosulfate (REESO4) and REE disulfate (REE(SO4)2 ) species are stable below 150 to 250 C but become less stable at higher temperatures, particularly the light REE, due to the decreased solubility of REE sulfate solids. |
